Fellow Democrats,

2008 was a year to remember, as we put the State Senate and the White House back in Democratic control. However, we cannot stop now, we have to capitalize on what we have done and continue to push our progressive agenda on the local, state and federal levels.

I urge each and every one of you to become an active member of College Dems as we begin the 2009-2010 year. This organization has given so many of its members so many opportunities and has changed lives, including my own.

We have so many issues to work on: healthcare, immigration reform, education reform, etc. We now have a President who is willing to listen to the young electorate and America is realizing that the youth vote is a power to be reckoned with.

Robert F. Kennedy once said, "Each time a person stands up for an ideal,or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope... and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."
