We'd like everyone in this group to forget about the traditional definition of what an entrepreneur is. The Merriam-Webster dictionary will tell you that an entrepreneur is, "one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise." We feel that entrepreneurs aren't just those that pursue a risky business venture, however. Entrepreneurs are artists (musicians, filmmakers, painters, etc.); they are philanthropists (founders of non-profits, for example), and they are rogue organizers on campuses and in communities all over the world. We believe that what defines an entrepreneur is the drive to organize and build. It is the willingness to pursue an idea that you believe in and make it happen. As such, the goal of the entrepreneur society is to foster a community of people with that drive...that desire and determination to create something- across the entire Boston College campus. The Entrepreneur Society is not just for CSOM students. It's also for the singer-songwriter who wants to make it big playing his or her own brand of music. Its for the filmmaker looking to create a documentary masterpiece. Its for the English major writing a novel. Its for the ambitious volunteer looking to start his or her own service trip to Central America. And it is for the Marketing major who wants to build her own consulting firm.
Let's bridge these gaps and create a community around our commonality: this drive and desire to create.
Invite your friends from other schools within the university to join the club and let's make this thing real.
