Congratulations to Ashley Carnes, Rachael Goldberg, Josh Kornfield, Haley Kornfield and Robert Levine's team for winning first place at the 2009 University of Miami School of Business Ethics Debate Bowl!

Also another congratulations to the second place team that may have a chance to compete in the Regional Ethics Bowl: Marcela Arcos, Jonathan D'Ambra, Andrew Hamner, Elana Reman and Jaime Williams!

Symposiums

We had an Ethics in Journalism symposium on September 22 featuring Professors Robert Radziewicz and Same Terilli, as well as Al Sunshine from CBS 4 News.

We will be having an Ethics of Animal Use symposium, headed by our Environmental Ethics Chair Ashley Carnes, on November 10th at 6:30 in LC 160

Guest Speakers

On September 15th, we featured Professor Cokelet, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Philosophy Department, who will be lecturing on Ethics and Philosophy. His main research areas are normative ethics, meta-ethics, moral psychology, rationality, and the history of ethics.

On October 27th, we were delighted by an exquisite presentation given by Professor Uluorta Ph.D., a visiting assistant professor in the International Studies department, who will be speaking on his current research on ethics.
He previously served as the Associate Director of the Center on Ethics at Stanford University. His scholarly interests include international relations theory, global political economy, security and risk studies, alternative development strategies, regulation of the global economy, employment/work, the social economy as well as structuralism/post-structuralism.
