The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Our vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction. Jay Yost With all the nonsense in ashington and people losing their trust in Government - we need to get people looking at us...the LP could be in a great spot right now!

Eric Quesenberry

Eric Quesenberry Election Day - too bad PA does not have more 3rd party candidates on the ballot. Most people ignore the importance the local elected offices are to our daily life. Change needs to start at home.

Alexander Bourg

Alexander Bourg Congress and the Presidency should be abolished since they screwed with the American people. I am tired of hearing about lost jobs or lost causes. That's my perspective.

Nathan Cline

Nathan Cline We need to concentrate more effort into electing local and state representation and less concern to the Presidency

Andalusia Alabama

Andalusia Alabama we need to get away from parties all together and go back to the top number of votes decides who will be president and who will be vice not this candidate with that one let them each win on their individual merits.

That's sort of what they wanted to do back at the beginning of the republic, but human nature being what it is, people soon stratified into groups of like mind, and the political parties of America were born.

Actually, Nebraska is unicameral. They essentially banned political parties there and it works.

Scott Wise

Scott Wise Betrayal is what the 2 major parties have to offer. George Washington warned us about political parties, and it is obvious that their(Dems and GOP) agenda is more important to them than a constitutional one.

Michael Hamilton

Michael Hamilton We need more libertarians in washington because these curent parties are not doing what is best for the people, they are doing what will give them campaign money

Surviving Illinois’ Debt Sentence: $106 Billion.“This counter is a conservative estimate of how the $106 billion of Illinois state government debt can increase. Since the Facing Facts study by the Civic Committe's Task Force on Illinois State Finance, and the companion article in the Chicago Sun-Times in December,... 2006, we have not found another source to update the Illinois state debt figures. And since Illinois state government was nearly shut down this summer and early fall over a budget showdown, we can only assume that the debt has continued to grow exponentially.”www.manianforstate.com

I am happy to say that I will soon be joining the LP. Why well because I've been sick of the Two-Party Politics for a long time. Especially when neither of the two parties give a flying Jack about the people they serve. I was with the constitution party, but their Christian-Only type bias just doesn't work (e...ven though I'm a Christian myself). I'm still conservative, but i am happy to be registering with the LP, and will be getting involved with my states LP organization. Long Live Liberty!Read More

Kyle, if you really study the libertarian philosophy, you'll find that libertarians and conservatives can mesh nicely, as it's the philosophy of unregulated economics that drives the health and freedom of the country. Where conservatives still have a bit of homework to do is the social concepts of not forcing social behaviors on others.

Contrary ... Read Moreto what others say, libertarians are not socially liberal in the Democrat sense of the word. They don't want to force the nation to become drug users, or support gay marriage, support abortion, or a myriad of other social behaviors offensive to Christian conservatives. Neither do they want to support drug prohibition, support the sanctity of marriage, or prohibit abortion. The official libertarian position is a socially-neutral position. They want the govt to stay out of a person's bedroom (or off their property, for that matter), and let the individual decide what's right for themselves.

You want to smoke pot? Fine, just don't force others to partake and be responsible for your actions. You want an abortion? Fine, just don't expect the govt to sanction and pay for it. You want to preserve the sanctity of marriage? Fine, go ahead and preserve it in your own home, but don't force others to adhere to your standards. You want a gay marriage? Fine, just don't expect the state to sanction either gay or straight marriage and don't expect the state to sanction or fund your social desires. You're on your own, providing you don't violate the rights of others to live their lives as they see fit.

Andrew Ervin

Andrew Ervin We must take our country back from the tyrants in D.C. before it's too late. We're losing more and more liberties every day, if this country doesn't wake up we'll be slaves until the next revolution.

Veronica Hazelmyer

Veronica Hazelmyer what people don't understand is that a government that is big enough to give you anything is big enough to take it all away, they all just focus on the little benefits of it and end up getting bit in the ass
