The Mad Vortex is an internet-based e-zine created by M. Edwards C., a noted fictitious Pullitzer Prize-winning author, and Celia Pleete, the clever but bored heiress to the fabled Pleete fortune for drainplugs.
The Mad Vortex was borne out of a joy of cooking, a desire for creative anarchy, and boredom. As societal norms started becoming a threat to creative expression, M. Edwards C. proposed that there be a place where the twilight zone of culture be celebrated. Several throats nervously cleared in agreement, but this may have been due to the fact that M. Edwards C. was clutching a switchblade and three fingers of bourbon at the time.
The Mad Vortex has been read by everyone from the current pope to Bill O'Reilly to Oscar Wilde to Celia's imaginary boyfriend.
