- Hi everyone!
I first would like to thank the 2008 E-board for doing an incredible job this year - Lindsay, Mike, Paul, Nikki, Concetta and especially Jeff all deserve our admiration and praise. I had so much fun and the new E-board has some big shoes to fill! That being said, I would like to welcome Heather, Jarid, Mike, and Lauren to their new positions - it's going to be a great year!
For any new members, Psychology Alliance is an academic club that combines a psychology club with Rowan University's chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology. Through community service, job talks, presentations, and more, we seek to learn about psychology as well as get to know the peers that we'll eventually be working with in the field. Psychology Alliance is not only a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and to network - it also provides the chances to get involved in research, to prepare for the GRE exams, and to form close relationships with our faculty.
The members of Psych Alliance are diverse and unique. Each member has different interests and career aspirations. We have members who want to be Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Researchers, Professors, Applied Behavioral Analysts, School Psychologists, Guidance Counselors, and Industrial Psychologists. We have members who will not go beyond the Bachelor's Degree and we have members who wish to pursue Ph. D's. I think these differences serve to make our meetings both interesting and varied. We cover so many topics in a year, and so many areas of interest that it truly can help you decide what you want to do with the rest of your life - a crucial aspect of undergraduate education.
I believe that Psych Alliance is an asset to any person who has an interest in psychology. It can be a valuable tool in preparing you for your next steps in life and in aiding in your transition from student to professional. I hope to do my best to make sure that every person in the club reaps the maximum benefit in that sense, while forming friendships and relationships and having a blast.
I hope that you all have a great summer and I'm so excited to get started next semester!
Always,
Kelly MacKenzie, President
