Other than league and cup matches in the Coventry & District League, here are a few things that the Chess Society does throughout the year:
1. Introductory Chess Tournament on Saturday, Week 1.
2. Club nights every Thursday evening, for recreational play, chess variants or informal coaching sessions and discussions.
3. Internal friendly ladder tournament, running every Thursday evening during club nights. Play as much or as little as you want in this tournament!
4. One World Week individual rapidplay chess tournament.
5. Inter-university team rapidplay chess tournament.
6. Club meal at Xanana's, followed by a friendly poker tournament in Rootes Social.
7. Club meal followed by bowling in Leamington.
8. Anything else you suggest!
In addition, some of our more experienced members play in the UK's national team competition (the Four Nations Chess League). Furthermore, the World Circular Chess Championships (which take place annually in Lincolnshire) usually receives a healthy representation from the University of Warwick!

Recent News
- News:
- The 2008-2009 season was an eventful season for the University of Warwick Chess Club:
The 'A' team are Coventry & District League Runners Up and Team Lightning Winners.
The 'D' team are Second Division Divisional Cup Winners.
Last year's secretary, John-Paul Taylor, won the League's most improved player award. This is the fourth time in five years that a university player has won this award.
Congratulations to all teams and players.
