Berkeley's City Council voted to sue to stop UC's stadium plan. They are claiming the upgrade is unsafe because the site straddles Hayward Fault.
Would the City rather student athletes continue to train in a facility ready to crumble and be torn apart in a major earthquake? Or worse, that we have a stadium where 75,000 fans show up that is not fit for an earthquake?
If Jeff Tedford leaves, I blame the City of Berkeley. Let's get this project done without bureaucratic roadblocks.
Sadly, Mayor Tom Bates was the starting tight end on Cal's last Rose Bowl team. This is why I am not a politician.
