We the students of this generation, bred in at least modest comfort, housed now in universities, look uncomfortably to the world we inherit. In order to abolish the sham of our preposterously idealized Union, establish true justice, insure global tranquility, provide for our communities' safety and best interests, and promote the general welfare, do ordain and establish this constitution.

1.SDS is opposed to all forms of institutionalized hierarchy and domination.

2.We are not a mouthpiece for any political party or ideology. Instead, we identify with and seek to give voice to the largely unarticulated anti-authoritarian tendencies within society.

3.We are committed to the collective process of education, self-determination, and direct action towards a truly democratic society.

4. We demand an educational system that reflects these values.

5. We demand the end of restrictions of free expression on campus and in our communities.

6. We oppose all wars of aggression, imperialism, and the socio-economic and political structures that support and profit from them.
