What is the Space Generation?
****************************************
The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is a non-governmental organisation which brings the views from its members to and works with the United Nations, Space Agencies and other organisations. Members are students and young space professionals.
More broadly, the Space Generation identifies a large group of young (minded) volunteers who have an interest in space and an ambition to act.
SGAC has obtained permanent observer status in the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and is a member of the International Astronautical Federation.
****************************************
What do we do?
****************************************
Space Generation is in essence a global volunteer base, working on projects that are related to space. SGAC carries out policy projects -- writing papers to present to the UN and Space Agencies -- as well as projects in areas such as space education and outreach (Yuri's Night was a product of Space Generation). We advocate for space exploration and try to motivate others in our generation to be interested in space.
****************************************
What can you do?
****************************************
Join the only global space youth network by going to the website and signing up for the global mailing list.
You can also help us get in contact with other young (minded) people and organisations that could be interested in what we do. Please direct them to the website and have them sign up to our global mailing list!
We see that our members that are very active and that take leadership roles, as a side benefit, demonstrate their potential to the outside world. In addition, our members gain skills that prove essential to their (future) careers. In effect Space Generation is a sandbox for the future space workforce.
****************************************
The term "Space Generation"...
****************************************
...is a reference to the notion from Peter Diamandis, Bob Richards and Todd Hawley (the founders of ISU), that all people born after 12th April 1961 have something in common which makes them different from all generations before them: space had become reality.
****************************************
Benefits of joining the Space Generation Network include:
****************************************
* Hear about upcoming space events, conferences, jobs, courses and festivals.
* Meet like minded people from all over the planet.
* Get involved in exciting hands-on projects.
* Find out about space educational opportunities in different countries.
* Discuss the future of human endeavours in space, and how you would like to see society develop as we expand in to space.
****************************************
Remember, if you really want to be a part of SGAC, you must sign up on the listserv at http://www.spacegeneration.org

- We are looking for volunteers to help co-write a wiki for the website that will explain all the terms and concepts (such as gravity maps, orbital parameters, and even deflection scenarios) used in the database. More info here: http://www.spacegeneration.org/node/2586.
Hope you can help!
