Because we reject a world where the corporate and political elite continue to enrich themselves on the backs of the poor in both developed and developing nations, while unelected and unaccountable global bodies steadily usurp the right of democratic institutions under the banner of free trade.

Because we dream of - in fact, we insist upon - a future wherein humanity is reconciled with the planetary ecosystems on which it and indeed all living organisms depend.

Because the old-line parties have proven themselves incapable of addressing the most pressing issues facing the world, and instead persist in placing short-term political gain over the long-term interests of both people and the planet.

Because this is our future and the future of our children, and we will have our say.

Ecological Wisdom. Social Justice. Participatory Democracy. Non-Violence. Sustainibility. Respect for Diversity. These are our six founding principles.

We are the global Green movement. We are the Green Party of Canada.
