From the desk of Judith Bronte: "Before I get panicked e-mail from my readers, I want to assure you that I will continue to write free, full length, Judith-Bronte-sized novels at my Journey of the Heart website; I will continue to post a new chapter every month on schedule. Same as always. What's free at my website stays free.
Here's what IS changing:

In the future, the first novel in a book series will be free, while normally, its sequels will not. For instance, Mountain Wild is a free read, while its sequel (yes, I'm planning a sequel) will be for-profit. I'm making an exception for Terry's Journey, even though it's a sequel in the Journey of the Heart series. There's too much anticipation, and I don't want to spring this change on anyone without warning. So Terry's story will be free, but Ricky's story will be for-profit.
Every few years, I'll publish a new novel through Lulu.com. These for-profit novels will be sequels to the free love stories at my website. I'll make the for-profit novels available in paperback and in the much cheaper e-book format.

This transition means I'll be writing more than ever. In fact, I'm already writing two novels at the same time -- Mountain Wild and Homegrown Dandelions, the first book in a new series set in modern day New Mexico.

I always intend to have a free love story going at the website, so I hope you'll keep coming back for more! See you in October for chapter 16 of Mountain Wild! (I start working on it next week.) P.S.: If you're wondering what a book series is, here's Wikipedia's definition: "A book series is a sequence of books with common characteristics, typically written by the same author..." For example, Journey of the Heart and Abigail's Journey are part of the same book series." * Myra's note: I think it's an awesome transition for Sarah, and hope all her readers will support her whole-heartedly. *

Nov 13/08 I'm putting up the portion of this month's email that has to do with Homegrown Dandelions, Judith's latest work-in-progress... the first chapter of which is posted on the website. The following chapters will be posted intermittently as time permits.. (personally I'm already hooked on the story!)

** WARNING: PLOT SPOILERS AHEAD! **(as indicated, its from Judith's desk)
Don't read below this point until after reading chapter 1 of Homegrown Dandelions! It could ruin some of the story surprises in the chapter, so you've been warned!

Homegrown Dandelions: Behind the Scenes of Chapter 1

I originally came up with the idea for Homegrown Dandelions in August of 2005, but never had the opportunity to actually sit down and start writing. The characters were outlined, the story formed, but I still lacked one necessary thing -- time. Without that one important ingredient, unwritten characters have to remain in my plotting notebooks and patiently await their love story to be told.

In August of 2008, nearly three years later to the day, Matt and Beth got their turn when I began writing their story, starting with this chapter.

Every romance I write is an adventure in and of itself. It's always an adventure to see how the story will translate from the imagination and into the written word. Research, details about the characters, setting, the overall tone are all important and necessary for the story to work properly. Each story is different, and each has its own challenges. Once I'm knee deep in a novel, and have several chapters behind me, things tend to come easier. For now, I must look to my outline, and the outline in my imagination, checking and double checking to make sure I stay true to the characters.

Homegrown Dandelions won't have a scheduled posting deadline, (one monthly deadline is enough), but since you're on my announcement list, I'll let you know when a new chapter is added. I'm trying to write one chapter a month for this novel, but we'll see if I can keep up.

Thanks for reading!
