Don Russell has been back in touch to let us know he is progressing with his book. In addition he sent a photo of a similar tree. It seems the idea is taking off!

"... I was re-watching your video just now, after someone sent me this other guy’s tree made with Grolsch bottles."

Monday 10th September 2007

We are heading to hit a wider audience since we received the following email via the YouTube video:

"Hi - love the Christmas tree. I'm writing a book about Christmas beer and I'd love to include your tree in the book somehow. Can you please contact me at ***@??????????.*** ?
Thanks much - hope you enjoyed the beer!
Don Russell

He has now been sent several high resolution photos and seems keen to use them.

Saturday 17th February:

It is a sad time for all. The tree has finally been taken down and recycled :(

----------------------------------------------------------------------

WINNER!!!

The results are in and our tree has been awarded 1st place in the 'World Wide Christmas Tree Contest 2006'! Chosen out of 67 trees from around the world - clearly bottles are better than any tacky plastic tree or tinsel covered malting shrub!

Thank you to everyone who voted for the tree.

We also have the results back from three other christmas tree competitions:

Fuckfrance.com: 1st Place!!!
The tree recieved many positive comments here and the judge awarded us first place for "effort and originality".

The-Riotact.com: Readers' Prize!
Although we were unable to pick up 1st place in this competition for political reasons (such as being English!!!, not being a real tree, and only being a member for a short time) we did receive the Readers' Prize, with it being called a "glorious tree which required a lot of dedicated beer drinking to create". Again we received many positive comments from the Australian members of this site.

Persistentrealities.com: 1st Place!!!
Voted the best tree of 2006.

The tree has now circled the globe (electronically) and has been found to be popular worldwide!
