For anyone and everyone who believes the University of Chicago should adopt the targeted divesment model from the genocide in Darfur.
By now you' have heard that after months of negotiations, the written support of over 1500 students, 110 faculty, and even John Hope Franklin, the last drafter of the Kalven Report, President Zimmer and the Board of Trustees still refused to divest from companies supporting the genocide in Darfur. What's more, they cited Kalven and have articulated for the first time a moral justification for why it is permissible for universities nation-wide to financially support genocidal regimes. We think this proves that our University no longer has a moral leadership .
