How does the greatest adventure in the world sound? what about 10 000 miles, 7 mountain ranges, 3 deserts, bandits and roads ranging from bad to non-existant and all this in a car you swapped for a bag of crisps and all for the good cause of charity?
The Challenge
Travel ¼ of the way around the earth, from London to Mongolia in any crap car that has an engine with no more than 1 ltr of power.
The rally is between 8 and 10 000 miles depending on the route you choose to throw your crap mobile at. We start from London and finish near the Mongolian capital Ulaan Bataar about three weeks and a whole lot of adventure later. Basically the world is your oyster, teams have gone as far north as the Arctic Circle and as far south as Afghanistan. What happens to you as you try to get to the end between the deserts, mountains, bandits and wilderness is anyone's guess. In a normal year just over half the teams make the finish line in one piece.
Our back up team isn't just small, it doesn't exist. If you come on the Mongol Rally, you're relying on yourself. It's an adventure not a petting zoo so we can in no way guarantee your arrival at the finsh line, or your safety.
Travelling light is the order of the day. You want to be as unladen as possible, so if you have to swap your broken car for a bicycle in the middle of the desert, you can carry on with out much difficulty.
