The Digital Projects Division in the Stephen F. Austin State University library is dedicated to making digitized cultural heritage and natural science collections available for students, teachers, science and history buffs.
We are involved in exploring and documenting various aspects of both Texas and Mexican culture, in order to establish a better appreciation and understanding of both cultures for students and teachers.
We have recently received an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant that has funded our current projects, including scanning and translating Texas, Mexican, and Spanish historical documents and creating virtual field trips that document the culture and ecosystems of Texas and Mexico.
Our department’s intent is to create a potential model for how libraries, archives, and museums can expand their services to support life long learning.
