Thursday nights, starting 10/1
Taught by Justin Lebar and Helen Lu
FREE

Beginning Swing/Lindy Hop, 8:30-9:45
This series will give you everything you need to know to have fun swinging on the dance floor! This class is open to everyone; absolutely no dance experience is required. We'll start with four- and six-count Swing and move on to basic Lindy Hop. You'll be swinging out in no time!

Intermediate Lindy Hop, 7:00-8:15
Want to refine your swingout? Are you up for the challenge of dancing to faster and slower music? Ready to start thinking about musicality? In our intermediate lindy series, we'll work on the partner connection needed to pull off more advanced tricks. Soon you'll be doing tandem charleston, fancy footwork, hitting breaks... we'll teach moves for every kind of music. This class is aimed at people who are comfortable with swingouts, lindy circles, and basic Charlestons.

FAQ

Do I need a partner?
We'll rotate partners in both classes, so you don't need to bring a partner.

What should I wear?
Please wear dance shoes or socks; high heels (including ballroom heels), street shoes, and bare feet are not recommended. Aside from that, just wear comfortable clothes.

I know six-count Swing, but I don't know Lindy Hop. Which of your classes should I take?
We don't have a class specifically for this demographic this quarter, but we'll do our best to accommodate you. Just come to the first day of our beginner class and talk to one of us afterwards. If the material is too basic, you may be able to skip the first few classes.

Are there other student-run Swing classes on campus? Yes! Jason Fang (okay, not exactly a student anymore, but still one at heart) will be holding Dancelab on Wednesdays. Jason will send another e-mail with details, but in brief, Dancelab is a workshop open to everyone and has no set curriculum -- Jason will teach you whatever you want to learn about Swing or just about any other dance.

Additionally, Gabe Takacs and Andrea Wolf are offering Swing classes on Mondays in Hacienda Commons this quarter. Details are at http://swing-together.com/

What if I have another question?
Just e-mail Justin (jlebar@stanford.edu) or Helen (helenlu.cx@gmail.com).
