For those amongst the students and staff of Keele University who demand an answer to the following question:
How can Vice-Chancellor Dame Janet Finch's astronomical wage packet be justified when:
1) Keele has suffered the 4th biggest drop in student applications in the entire UK.
2) Her career 'highs' are considered to be the hugely unpopular Phase 3 and Innovation Centre developments.
3) Her teaching staff last year recieved a pay rise of just 12% to be spread over 3 years, a third of her own pay rise.
4) She is considered an unpopular and absent figure by many of the student and teaching bodies, putting her career before the good of the university.
5) She has enough spare time that she was allegedly absent from Keele for 3 months, and has a second six-figure paying job on a Government Quango.
6) Students are having to fork out ever more money to study at Keele, whilst projects such as relaying the astro-turf go undone due to a lack of funds?
We demand to know; what Janet does for Keele, why she does it, and how this justifies her obscene financial rewards.
I urge you all to write to her at the email address j.v.finch@vco.keele.ac.uk demanding answers. Chair of Council Mr Ian Dudson (responsible for the decision) can be emailed on ian.dudson@dudson.com. Letters can also be sent to the the Clerk of Council who is also the Secretary and Registrar, noting that it is for the care of the Chair of Council.
