- The Bahá'í Society meets every Wednesday from 7-9pm in the Chaplaincy Centre Room 1, and usually head to a cafe afterwards for more informal socialising.
We also have firesides every Friday in the homes of members of the Edinburgh Bahá'í community. These consist of a free meal, short devotional (Baha'i prayers and readings, usually on a set theme) then an informal presentation and discussion on a Bahá'í theme or global issue.

--Junior Youth Outreach Project
Sunday 17th, 10am-6pm, Greenbank
Most of you will hopefully be familiar with the concept of Bahai-led Junior Youth Groups.
In a letter from the Universal House of Justice dated 1 January 2010 the UHJ emphasise:
"The need for you to apply yourselves to service in two capacities in particular--as teachers of children's classes and as animators of junior youth groups--has never been more apparent... And surely every young person will flourish in a programme that helps to form a strong moral identity in the critical years of early adolescence and empowers participants to contribute to the well-being of society."
Meeting at 10am at Sepideh's house at 20 Littlejohn Avenue, EH10 5TG (07815089649), the day will consist of praying - both individually and collectively - deepening on the purpose and significance of junior youth groups and then going out into the neighborhood for outreach where we'll invite them to our first session which we will have after the outreach. We will then have a quick reflection. The aim is to be finished by 6pm at the latest. This is a great opportunity to experience outreach and to hopefully start our first junior youth group in Edinburgh. Sepideh has very kindly offered to make us lunch as well as offering her home.
If you are interested, want to know more, or have any questions, then please ring Ashkan on 07716972328 and let him know by email if you can be there (ashkanziaie@hotmail.com).
--Devotional & lunch!
Monday 18th, 1pm, Chaplaincy Room 2 (next door to our Wednesday room)
The first of weekly devotionals in the heart of the university. Everyone's welcome to join us for shared prayers, readings and music. Bring your lunch and eat together afterwards, with some good discussion!
If you're feeling musical, and would like to contribute then please bring along any instruments; hopefully in the future we can develop the musical side. For this first week, I will prepare some prayers and readings from the Bahá'í writings, on the topic of prayer and meditation, but anyone is welcome to contribute their own prayer from any faith or tradition.
--Film: The Wayfarer
Wednesday 20th, 7pm, Chaplaincy Room 1
"The Wayfarer": a film about one man's journey across the globe to understand the Baha'i religion's beliefs, humanitarian efforts, and struggles with persecution.
The journey begins at the Baha'i World Centre in Israel where a non-believer starts his search for the truth behind this faith. The adventure continues through five different countries exposing the realities of the Baha'is international positioning and influence over global culture and society.
Raising questions of theology, social action, and religious conflict, "The Wayfarer" is a film that is unique and stylistically the first of its kind. The journey encompasses aesthetically stunning and iconic locations combined with content that will make you think.
The film will be followed, of course, by discussion, which in turn will be followed by chat and banter in a café!
--Fireside!
Friday 22nd, 6.30pm
Friday's fireside follows the usual formula, and will be at the Hemmatis' household in Marchmont...more info in due course!
