Where to begin?
Our 14th Annual Leadership Seminar was held on May 29-31 at the Boone Y-Camp. Instructing staff for the Seminar were Master V., Dr. Mani Mina, and Master Lane Swalve. Our Special Guest this year was 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist, Actress and Hollywood Stuntwoman, Dana Hee.
How to describe a weekend with the one and only Dana Hee?
She is engaging, she is funny, she is inspirational, and she is passionate about helping people understand that there really are NO limits to what we can accomplish, unless we choose to limit ourselves.
She gave two very inspirational talks to the participants, and participated in the vast majority of the weekend's activities, despite having to deal with a lingering cold. We found out that she's just at "geeky" about learning new martial arts stuff as the rest of us are. I also found out, through personal experience, that she is just about the fastest thing I've ever seen in or out of the ring.
Shannon Hodges has posted quite a few pictures and video clips from Seminar on the Voorhees TKD Facebook page, and as soon as I get a spare minute or 5, I will try to post some of what I have, as well.
Thank you to all who participated in the Seminar, and most especially, thank you, Master Hee, for coming and being a part of our "family".
Leadership Seminar 2010 is already scheduled, and will be held on June 5 and 6, 2010, at the Des Moines YMCA Camp, just north of Boone, Iowa.
--Master V.
