"Network neutrality is critically important to Canadians as it preserves the democratic spirit of the Internet and guarantees that all Canadians, not just rich corporations, have fair and equal access."

In other words, we don't want to give the big telcos the power to be Internet gatekeepers who strive to censor our freedom online - i.e. they shouldn't be allowed to enable faster access to preferential websites, throttle our legal P2P downloading, choke our Skype calls, limit our bandwidth at their discretion.
