Family and Friends of BSU,

BSU hopes to facilitate interchange amongst our community members and promote a reciprocal interest in the rich and diverse culture of the African and African-American Community at the University of Iowa.
We welcome all friends and family as we promote awareness of the integral role that African-American's play in the United States and of the continual impact our people make, reaching new horizons repeatedly allowing us to hold our head higher each day. A lack of community however threatens to slow this progress and hold us hostage to the tug of individualism that leads to forgetting the work that our mothers and fathers had striven so diligently to accomplish.
It is with this in mind that we must remember our role as all part of a community; to come together and help to celebrate the accomplishments of our past, and to encourage each other unto even greater successes in the future. We can move forward together with great confidence as a unified voice ensuring the incubation of all our community. The scope of “our people” can be defined in infinite ways, and we call on everyone, of all colors, creed, and religions, to help with the education and stimulation of our rich African-American community here at the University of Iowa.
