Fancy putting on your own Oxjam event? Here is your quick guide to getting started.
Picture getting 50-100 people in a room. All having a brilliant time and feeling super-special because they are helping Oxfam to end poverty. And you'd be there, feeling very proud.
1. Get a team together of like-minded people who will help make it happen.
2. Research your scene - know what music will bring people in, like local bands with lots of support around.
3. Find a low cost venue or better still a regular club night that might donate some of the door fees. Oxjam in an instant.
4. Set the date and promote like mad, flyers, MySpace, Facebook, posters, word of mouth. Then promote it again. And again.
5. Check the legal bit in your full toolkit which you can download from our wesbite.
6. Have fun on the night. Increase smug satisfaction of a job well done by using little extras like raffles, talent auctions etc to make some extra cash. Set up a just giving account and target the folks that couldn't make it.
7. Send the cash into Oxfam online or by cheque payable to Oxfam along with the event income form you can find on our website.
That's it in a nutshell. Good luck, we hope you have a brilliant time.
