- Description:
- HISTORY--Grew out of Lakehead University (Thunder Bay, ON., Canada) LU Team Africa (2000), LU Team China (2005), and LU Team India (2006).
DESCRIPTION AND MISSION--An Education Transnational [much in the vein of a university such as Cornell U. in Ithaca, NY, designed using interdisciplinary ideas of the likes of social system logic and loosely coupled organizations, and exemplifying global brain and enlightened mind 21st Century concepts such as sustained empathy, responsibility, giving/generosity, authenticity, and (above all) love]--a soulful, enabling, informal team/cooperative that serves and liaises with a multitude of charitable, global aid organizations, providing information and facilitating the shipping of donated goods such as used books, used computer systems, used technological equipment generally, medical supplies, eyeglasses, clothing, footwear, bicycles, toys, sports equipment, and used furniture to the needy worldwide in the general causes of "educational" development and truly helping humanity, with a current focus on Africa and South America--aiding communities there to eventually become self-reliant and have compulsory education for all to the end of elementary school. GCC/CCG follows the highest ethics, practices tolerance, and represents much of what is best about collectives of people---their capacity to improve productivity and therefore the living standards of ordinary human beings. It acts with a clear sense of social, economic, legal, and environmental responsibility, accountability, and professionalism for the interests of humanity as a whole. In aiding needy countries, GCC/CCG strives to provide preservation of local autonomy, initiative, awareness, and stimulation and control. Mutual effort on both the part of the giver and receiver is the guideline.
Organized and operates informally, without borders, and with an appropriate balance between public and private, individual and group, and transparency and confidentiality, standing united in spirit. Leadership through all aspects of "multiple intelligences" enriches GCC/CCG's entire being. GCC/CCG is an example of a centralized organization that integrates a multitude of fragmented charitable, humanitarian, international aid organizations of similar mission, thus streamlining and mitigating duplication and waste, something much needed globally (especially from an economic perspective). The many groups in the GCC/CCG network serve together in an multidisciplinary fashion with each group bringing its unique expertise to bear on the particular setting for which aid is being provided.
Possesses an honourary advisory board of truly good, honest, volunteer persons, some 40 in number, representing various sectors of society globally.
GCC/CCG has divided the world into four geo-economic zones--: 1)The Americas--(North) Canada including Canadian aboriginal reserves, Wisconsin, Mexico, Cuba, & Haiti & (South) Guatemala, Nicaragua, Guyana, Ecuador, & Peru; 2) EuroRussia--United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Yugoslavia, & Romania; 3) IndoChina--India, Nepal, Burma, China, Taiwan, Philippines, & Papua New Guinea; & 4) Africa--(North) Senegal, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Kenya, & Sudan & (South) Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, & Zimbabwe. Some 30 projects. A GCC/CCG advocate oversees each zone.
Emphasizes democracy and the common good, whereby such depends upon the search for truth and its free exposition.
Charitable/non-profit; no burden to taxpayers.
Free of self-interest and corruption.
Through its worldwide, transnational network, wonderful travel opportunities and careers are available.
Overall, its higher object is the advancement of international understanding, good will, peace, and justice for each and every person (ultimately, GCC/CCG's outreach is not about charity but about justice, with everyone being equal in the eyes of God); looking ahead and sustaining a positive outlook are key guidelines.
Profile of typical Global Conscience Circle(GCC)/Cercle de la Conscience Globale(CCG) members (volunteers): optimistic and enthusiastic females and males who enjoy learning about world affairs in the company of others; honest and trustworthy; possessed of a wonderful sense of humour; holistic thinkers and leaders who embrace change, progress, and the concept that the human brain, the human mind, the human race, and nature, the universe, and all forms of life---body, mind, and soul/spirit--- are continually evolving; people who are serious about assisting the less fortunate and needy around the globe, in an effort to someday have worldwide harmony, cooperation, and peace.
GCC/CCG makes a point to communicate, network, and partner/share with other organizations that hold a similar vision for the evolving, integrating world.

"I was informed last week by a helping church member here that GCC/CCG's fourth shipment of 2006-2007 into India---some 36 complete computer systems from vacating Thunder Bay public schools (all generously and carefully pretested as to working properly by Thunder Bay Steve Zavitz's Nerds-on-Site team) are now in needy schools and orphanages in the Himalayan region of Northern India. The goods originally arrived in Delhi Airport several months ago and were received by GCC/CCG's pickup team from Woodstock International School of Uttaranchal, Northern India (headed by LU-trained teacher Marla Dunn, on the Woodstock staff with her husband, Brian, also from Thunder Bay).
Marla and Brian are returning to Thunder Bay this year and are members of the church group here that enlightened me, in 2006, as to the need in the destination schools and orphanages and through which my informant of last week reported. Some two years ago Marla and her child suffered through typhoid fever and graciously persevered on in making shipment receiving arrangements. "
