About Me:
I was born in Harrisonville, Missouri and am the product of public school teachers. I am a senior at Truman State University majoring in Political Science and History. I am currently the Director of Communication for the CDA GLBT Caucus, Co-Chair of the College Democrats of Missouri GLBT Caucus and Vice President of the College Democrats of Missouri. I also founded the first political GLBT organization, The Stonewall Group, on Truman State’s campus.
In my spare time I enjoy my dogs, Hugs and Kisses, watching Star Trek (don’t tell anyone), running marathons, and my favorite activity is laughing.

My Candidacy:
Things ain't right!
On January 20, 2001, George W. Bush was sworn in as President of the United States. Since his election America has been transformed from an international leader to a global pariah. Now, in 2007, we have an opportunity to restore America’s leadership in the international community and move forward a progressive agenda that stresses fairness, equality and understanding. The College Democrats of America is instrumental in inspiring youth from across the country to speak out, take action and engage others in political discourse. The CDA caucuses are an essential component to this effort. They not only serve as a mechanism to reach out to communities often times neglected by the major parties but also serve as a tool to educate and mobilize our campuses. The political affairs position manages, maintains and enhances the caucuses.
If elected Political Affairs Director, I would work to strengthen the caucuses in several ways:
1. Create a progressive coalition by hosting a bi-monthly joint caucus conference call to create working relationships between caucuses. This coalition will also help coordinate efforts on crosscutting issues.
2. Programs are the key to a healthy chapter. Programs raise the visibility of the College Democrats and our issues. If elected, I would work with each caucus to develop one programming plan a month to be distributed to members and state federations. The program plans created by the caucuses will provide background information about an issue and all information needed to implement the program successfully.
3. Develop national relationships between the caucuses and allied, progressive organizations. These relationships will equip the caucuses with more resources and information to achieve their programming goals and in the process strengthen chapters and state federations.
4. With the presidential election closely approaching, it will be a paramount concern for the Political Affairs Director to work with caucus leaders to involve students in the campaigns and stress the importance of the youth vote, not just volunteering.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions for the caucus system and the political affairs position. I believe that the College Democrats of America can accomplish great things next year and together we can do it!
