He was gay. They just, you know, panicked. Over twenty-four hours. And beat him to death. And a friend - who was texted pictures of his bloody, battered face - did not alert the police for ten days.

It is entirely probable that these men will get away with a slap on the wrist. It has happened before. The "gay panic" tactic helped Aaron McKinney, one of Matthew Shepard's murderers, reduce his charge from first-degree premeditated murder to second-degree murder. That was WITH a media firestorm surrounding the whole issue and national outrage, that was with activists calling for justice.

Aaron Hall's death has gone unreported for two months. The national outrage that followed Matthew Shepard is nonexistant.

Tell everyone you know. Write to newspapers and TV stations. Write lots and lots of letters. Be outraged! Be furious and heartbroken.
