A mere yellow card was given to Bocanegra on what was certainly a sending-off offence.
(II) With the score at 2-1 favouring the USA at 3 minutes into stoppage time, Canada led one last attack on the American goal. Patrice Bernier (Canada) sent in a ball towards the American penalty area, with teammate Atiba Hutchinson in an onside position. The very same aerial pass was deflected by defender Oguchi Onyewu (USA) towards Hutchinson, who was then behind the second-last defender, who scored. The goal was called back on basis of an offside infraction, which was unanimously rejected afterwards. The decision cost Canada a chance to beat the 10-man Americans in extra-time (read less)Benito Archundia hates Canada
