Outreach’s aim is to raise awareness of Oxfam’s campaigns that promote a just and safer world for all. We do this by getting along to local festivals, gigs and events to set up campaign stall presence. Basically an Outreacher’s job is to inform the public on Oxfam’s campaigns and how they can make a difference, such as signing a petition that will promote positive political action. There's also a 1st Wednesday in the month evening meeting at the Civic Hall from 7:30pm, often with someone presenting on a development issue or topical interest - all welcome, more info from pauline.neale@ntlworld.com
There are also divisions of Outreach across the country in Bristol, London, Manchester, Midlands and the North East. Outreach Leeds has already campaigned at Leeds Festival, Just Fair Laughs, Corinne Bailey Ray's gig, Chapeltown Carnival, Beeston, Kirkstall and Chapel Allerton Festivals to name but a few ! !
Outreachers not only get the chance to get into festival, gigs and events for free, but they also make a difference in the process as well as making a whole new bunch of friends!
If this sounds like something that you would like to get involved in please email us or sign up under the Leeds section on our website:
