A forum for the discussion and coordination of bike buses along major routes in Toronto. Not sure what a Bike Bus is? A bike bus is a group of people who cycle to work in a group. It’s called a “bus” because there is a set route and timetable so it can pick up more “passengers” along the way.
While the city has a bike plan in place for the implementation of bike lanes, the problem is not being addressed quickly enough and many of those lanes are being used as free parking given the lax enforcement of parking bylaws.
Bike buses would provide greater visibility and safety. (Think it is easy to miss seeing a single cyclist when opening your drivers side door? You should be able to see the 10-15 cyclists headed your way.
We already have the traffic on many of our major streets to support this, it is simply a matter of 'clustering' that traffic thus making us more visible and also providing a safe way for new cyclists to take to the roads.
