This Group is takes its inspiration from two sources. The first is ImprovEverywhere NY. The second is the Dublin Event Guide (for free events), a mailing list sent out weekly by my friend Joerg. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7276986445
Within the past month or two, the DEG FB group has grown to over 800 members, all signing up to stay informed as to how to keep entertained in Dublin for free. Well, here's an idea....
Why don't we create our own entertainment together every now and then?
Take a look at ImprovEverywhereNY ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D8cZJ8a6Xc
Imagine 800+ DEGuiders having a sack-race, egg&spoon race or three-legged race down Grafton Street some Saturday afternoon.
Or to copy the IENY pranksters, let's have an impromptu fake birthday party on the Dart on a Monday morning. Ok, so you have to put aside your self-consciousness a little, but I think it'll be fun bringing smiles to the faces of strangers at the start of the week.
Let's hold a "Farmers Market" in Temple Bar some weekend where some lads dress in wellies, tweed jackets and caps and are led around a ring made from bales of hay, have them canter, check their teeth, etc., and are bid for in a fake auction with fake potential buyers. Passers-by would be perplexed. I like that one actually, it just came to me now.
Only one rule... well, two rules actually:
1: we won't do any prank that's offensive or excludes anyone (it's usually funnier when it includes everyone!!),
2: we won't do anything illegal.
Any other ideas? Anyone willing to give it a shot? Lets make our own events for the DEG. Maybe we can do a different prank once a month, and Joerg can mail it out at the bottom of the DEG. But remember, it won't be fun if you tell everyone else about it before-hand. It could be 800+ people sharing a secret, being part of a secret club. Don't tell anyone else. Deal?
And don't forget to subscribe to dublineventguide@gmail.com either.
