HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY
http://www.myspace.com/hungrykidsofhunga ry
While the mention of their name often invokes raised eyebrows and amused smiles among the uninitiated, Brisbane four-piece Hungry Kids of Hungary produce music that inspires equal measures of curiosity and joy.
Dressing their immaculate indie tunes with a healthy dose of 60’s pop sensibility and lashings of soul (think Phoenix, Vampire Weekend or Supergrass), Hungry Kids have clearly done their rock history homework, but manage to apply their learning without ever sounding formulaic. Recorded in May 2008 at Brisbane’s Airlock Studios, their self-titled debut EP shows their musical dexterity, skipping lithely between jangly pop gems, hushed ballads and slinky soul numbers.
After snaring a slot at Big Day Out (thanks Unearthed), HKoH headed back into the studio in February to record their second EP Mega Mountain and have since made it their mission to play as many shows as possible.
First single 'Scattered Diamonds' hit radio airwaves becoming a feelgood hit for the summer and saw the guys hit the road with triple j upstarts, the Philly Jays and Washington. Continuing the touring throughout Winter and well into Spring, supporting both Little Birdy and Bertie Blackman on their consecutive national tours. The Kids will hit the road for one last round of touring for the year, embarking on their very first headline tour in November with the release of their brand new single 'Let You Down'.

LYLA
http://www.myspace.com/lylaband
What was entirely awesome about this junk in the first place? All the buzz, none of the bullshit? Wow, who thought it was still possible. Yup, such is the awesome freak of nature that is Lyla. Humble in spite of all their influences. Just a quiet 60's influenced rock and roll band, sinking piss and playing the blues... Sometimes it just doesn't get much better.
THE SWEET DECLINE
http://www.myspace.com/thesweetdecline
The Sweet Decline is purely about creating music that allows their listeners to get drunk to, get sad with, crack a smile to and to simply enjoy the highs and lows of Adelaide life with. TSD loves getting on the stage to a rambling crowd getting down and dirty. Influenced by acts such as Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Kasabian, Stones, Stooges and MC5, The Sweet Decline bring a fusion of indie Rock'n'roll that Adelaide has been lacking for some time.

PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY
http://www.myspace.com/philadelphiagrand jury
Philadelphia Grand Jury has always been two friends: Berkfinger and MC Bad Genius. Between these two childhood buddies of some 20 years one observes a strange, tedious and sometimes very complicated relationship that always manages to somehow end up in a smart and ruff pop song. Do they even like each other? No one really knows.
Berkfinger hadn't seen Bad Genius for going on 6 years when one day last year the curious bearded fellow just strolled into one of his solo shows with a bass and plugged himself right back into the singer's life.
From there, these two childhood buddies - and a rotating ensemble of drummers - have been writing, recording and touring their own indie punk soul hits around the country and winning fans everywhere they go.
Now The Philly Jays are set to release their debut album ‘Hope Is For Hopers’.

KID SAM (Melb)
http://www.myspace.com/kidsamband
They make songs that traverse themes of violence, romance and the politics of the everyday, distilling the history of intelligent song writing within them. Kieran’s fluid and gritty guitar playing is the vehicle for songs that are remarkably well crafted and timeless. With the launch for their second single 'Cemetery' at Melbourne’s Newtown Workers Club selling out on the night, make sure you don’t miss Kid Sam if they play your town.

JUPITER LEAD
http://www.myspace.com/jupiterlead
Jupiter Lead make eloquent and sophisticated indie pop music that comes from the heart. They splice pop, rock, electronica and shoegaze to create their own brand of melodic indie rock. The result is a sound demonstrative of the influences that inspire Jupiter Lead's song writing. Think Bloc Party's 'A Weekend In the City', M83's 'Saturdays=Youth' and Jimmy Eat World's 'Futures'.
