A think tank dedicated to discussing and lobbying for new urban smart growth developments all over the capital region.
In addition to holding our politicians feet to the fire on the Edmonton City Centre Aiport (ECCA) closure and Municipal Lands redevelopment, we are an advocacy group for all planned and potential smart growth projects that can stop the spread of urban sprawl.
Closing the ECCA is a bold and brave first step, but developing that land in the coming years won't be enough. In order to achieve our City Vision of sustainable growth, we need to figure out all urban zones that are currently being underutilized.
Out-of-the-box projects could include select city-owned golf courses, large brown/green fields, parking lots, car dealerships, older rental properties, shopping/strip malls, and aging rail or industrial yards.
Increasing density in these types of areas and connecting them to one another with new urban LRT lines, will allow us to protect older mature neighbourhoods and prime rural agricultural land alike.
Stay tuned for more information and links as we get this new group up and running!
