To reach out to its younger members, the IEEE encourages students to establish a local university branch. As the IEEE Student Branch at AUB, we take on the responsibility of promoting knowledge, and bringing the professional world closer to students.
The IEEE AUB Student Branch was founded in 1997. Our branch established a policy of collaborating with other FEA (Faculty of Engineering and Architecture) societies at AUB, such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) student branch, the Engineering Student Society (ESS), the Civil Engineering Society (CES), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the FEA Student Representative Committee (FEA-SRC). This creates an overall cooperative effortamong students.
Throughout the year, our Branch organizes several events and activities covering both professional and social issues. These events bring together faculty members, staff, and students in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In 2005, the IEEE-AUB Student Branch received an award for winning the Third Place in the IEEE worldwide competition on the student branches' websites.
