*THE ISSUES*

National Defense- We are for a strong national defense, with a limited number of bases, strategically placed, over seas. Currently we have an abundance of bases overseas while we continue to close bases here at home-where defense is needed. We are against "Preventative Warfare" which makes America aggressive invaders. Outsourcing jobs to foreign markets, supplying them with more resources, does not make us safer at home and thus is a matter of national security. (We will tackle reducing the cost of keeping buisness in America under other issues.)

Health Care- We are strongly opposed to nationalizing health insurance. We believe that it is the consumer who carries the most clout in determining the price of health insurance. We believe that if Government (excluding Medicare and Medicaid) and businesses were no longer responsible for providing health insurance, health insurance companies would have no choice but to deal with the individual consumer who will not pay the 13,000 dollars a year that businesses currently have to pay (which could then be used for raises or hiring more employees) per employee, thus insurance companies will have to provide coverage for less money. Governments role would be to provide tax deductions for all health care expenses (providing we can not change income tax laws). Businesses could choose to do nothing or offer health savings accounts to employees. We also have to examine what the intent of health insurance is. Its original intent was to cover expensive procedures for people with cancer or other catastrophic health concerns and pregnancy. "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."Thomas Jefferson

Abortion- Our party believes that this sensitive issue should be handled by the states and the people that live within those states. Federal laws would unconstitutionally violate the rights of the minority and thus no federal law should be made for or against this issue.

Gay Marriage- The purpose of the constitution is to protect the rights of the minority from the laws of the majority, it is for this reason that marriage should not be defined by the federal government. The tax code as it stands violates the constitution by defining marriage through the way it distributes tax incentives and there for should also be changed.

The War on Drugs- The war on drugs has been a dismal failure. The number of nonviolent drug offenders in incarceration today cost the taxpayers billions of dollars a year, helping add to the the early release of violent offenders because of overcrowding. The Federal Governments only laws regarding drugs should be keeping drugs from coming across the borders. The states and the people who reside in them should make their own drug laws, though we do urge the States to consider drug abuse as a civil infraction best left to those addicted and their families to seek help much like those who abuse alcohol. We believe prohibition leads to violent crimes, increased robberies, and increased murders. Alternative measures to imprisonment and felony charges bust be looked at in a serious manner.

Civil Liberties- We believe in the bill of rights and actions taken as a result of the "Patriot Act" are in direct violation to your civil liberties. The Federal Government has issued laws saying these restraints are in your best interest, however other countries that have passed similar legislation have still been vulnerable to terrorist attacks."Those that would give up liberty for a false sense of security, deserve neither" Ben Franklin.

Education- The power of the Department of Education needs to be greatly reduced. Subject matter, hours spent, and other schooling issues are best left to the state, local, and parental figures of of the children they are responsible for. We believe that the Government should not be in the buisness of providing free education through options like the pell grant, however we do believe in Government backed 2% interest loans that would have to be paid back over ten years from the time of graduation.
"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."Ben Franklin

Taxes- the current tax system is flawed. We believe in reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government and in doing so could work toward a low national sales tax that would give the tax payer the discretion to pay as much or as little taxes as possible, while securing their personal financial privacy.

Central Banking- the value of a dollar today is far less than what it was when the Federal Reserve was put in place in 1913. After the Fed's creation, from 1913 to 2008 (95 years), the value of the dollar, relative to the Consumer Price Index, decreased by 95%. A dollar could buy 95% fewer goods in 2008 than in 1913, while from 1776 to 1912 (136 years), the value of the dollar, relative to the Consumer Price Index, increased by 11%. A dollar could buy 11% more goods in 1912 than in 1776. Thus, if in 1776, you sat on your savings pile of $1,000,000 for 136 years, it would then be worth $1,110,000 in purchasing power (it will have appreciated in value by 11%). A loaf of bread for Thomas Jefferson cost the same as a loaf of bread for Lincoln 50 years later and again the same for J.P. Morgan 50 years after that.

We are all being manipulated through inflation and deflation of the dollar. It is imperative to reexamine our monetary policies and the role that the Federal Reserve has played in the devaluation of our currency. Thomas Jefferson once said "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered."

Capitalism- We are for capitalism within out own boarders. We do not believe in outsourcing American jobs. We believe in tariff free trade with Mexico and Canada, however we believe in the traditional system of trade- we make American made products and trade thos for non American made products. We believe, like the founding fathers, that Government is best funded through trade rather than the taxation of Americans and their businesses.

Social Security- Social Security which is supposed to be a trust, is being looted in Washington. We believe that people should be free to choose whether to have Social Security or to invest their own money into personal retirement accounts. Studies show that personal investment would at least triple your retirement savings compared to that of social security. Prior to the age of 30 citizens could opt in and out of social security each work year, however once the citizen reaches the age of thirty they will either have to choose between a self funding retirement plan or social security.

Welfare- As it is today, Welfare, hurts both the tax payer and those who do not abuse the system. We believe great reform is needed in the Welfare program that allows people to collect Welfare for a maximum of two years. It would also provide assistance with relocation cost for welfare recipients to move because of work availability, the funds would have to be paid back to the Federal Government have to be paid back to the Government over a period of no more than 10 years from the termination of Welfare benefits.

Property and Mineral Rights- We strongly believe that property ownership is imperative to personal freedom. We also believe any minerals and oils found on said property belong to the owner and not to any Government. We believe in limiting property tax so that people may live off of their land if they so choose.

Gun Control- The only people that need gun control are those who use guns to rob, murder, and assault...even with gun control they can get guns off the black market. The right to bear arms was not written to protect hunters rights, but the right to stand up for yourself and property from a tyrannical Government and other outside forces. Needless to say we are not for Federal Gun laws. We also believe airline pilots should be taught and carry guns to protect unarmed passengers in times of hijacking.-"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws."
-Plato

Immigration- We believe that immigration must be done through the proper channels. We believe in a strong border patrol program, not only for keeping out those who immigrate here illegally, but as an important measure in national security against those who seek to gain entry into this country through Canada and Mexico. Illegal immigration leads to racism and bigotry, and could be avoided should we hold to a stricter immigration policy.
