THIS WEEK AT TES

Tuesday, November 24, TES Presents: Submissive and Service Archetypes with Laine

Archetypes are powerful tools in self-exploration, growth and expression. In this class we touch upon how to leverage these tools in our own paths of service and surrender. We will explore the functional and dysfunctional aspects of example archetypes as well as examine positive growth and possible stumbling blocks within each. These examples include, but are not limited to, the Servant, the Knight, the Courtesan, the Magician and the Steward. This is an interactive discussion/exploration class with a handout and some in-class exercises.

Laine has been involved in the D/s and M/s community since 1996 when she began exploring submission and surrender. Since then, she has had the privilege of serving as a submissive, servant and service slave in contracts ranging from short-term to multi-year. Currently in a year of personal reflection and growth, Laine has left San Francisco and travels extensively. She keeps her home base in New York City, close to her Leather Family - Sovereign House, where she functions as Family Majordomo.

Kinky is NOT a Diagnosis

Help make history by signing the DSM Revision Petition now! The diagnoses in the DSM-IV-TR still subject people who practice BDSM, fetishes and cross-dressing to bias, discrimination and social sanctions without any scientific basis.

We need 3,000 signatures, but we only have 2,200 now. If you don't speak up and call on the American
Psychiatric Association to adhere to empirical research when revising the diagnoses in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V), then the Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders Work Group won't make a meaningful change.

To sign, go to: www.thepetitionsite.com/1/DSMrevisionpetition

You can make your signature anonymous on this secure petition site so it doesn't appear on the Internet or when the petition is delivered to the APA.

Petition:
"We, the undersigned, support the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) own goal of making its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) a scientific document, based on empirical research and devoid of cultural bias. A diagnosis of a mental disorder can have a severe adverse impact on employment opportunities, child custody determinations, an individual's well-being, and other areas of functioning.

Therefore we urge the APA to remove all diagnoses that are not based upon peer-reviewed, empirical research, demonstrating distress or dysfunction, from the DSM. The APA specifically should not promote current social norms or values as a basis for clinical judgments."

To find out more about the DSM and the Paraphilias section, read the NCSF & ITCR: The Foundation for
NCSF's "White Paper on the DSM Revision" at www.ncsfreedom.org.

For more information, email: susanw@ncsfreedom.org

Help spread the word - please distribute this call for signatures!

Volunteer of the Month

It is with great pride that The Eulenspiegel Society recognizes the Volunteer of the Month for the month of November 2009.

The winner of this month's award is another whose presence and contributions are absolutely vital, but because she performs her task with aplomb, you may never even notice her. She has been of great assistance to the Operations staff. You always see her name at least twice a month as an operations volunteer, and she will do even more when she can. She has been consistent in her contributions to this vital committee and her knowledge has been very valuable.

As a result, the Volunteer Committee would like to recognize Chrissy as The Eulenspiegel Society Volunteer of the Month for November 2009.

For her display of the spirit of volunteerism, Chrissy will be entitled to TES meetings, workshops and parties for the month of November 2009. In addition, she will be featured in the TES Newsletter, the TES Weekly and noted in the TES Oracle and on the TES web page.

Thanks to Chrissy and all the other volunteers whose sacrifice is the reason The Eulenspiegel Society exists.

Chair

The Volunteer Committee realizes the there are many people who make many sacrifices to make The Eulenspiegel Society work. Many of those are unsung heroes, foot soldiers toiling laboriously in the field anonymously. The Voluntweer of the Month award is meant to shed light on their sacrifices.

There are others, whose toil in positions of responsibility are often not noticed. It is because they are doing their jobs well and without fanfare that you may not recognize the work that they do. They may be committee chairs or vice-chairs, or SIG facilitators, but their contributions are just as vital.

For the month of November 2009, we wish to recognize the Vice-Chair of the Operations Committee, Ted, for his continued work in that committee. When brought into the Operations as a relatively new TES member, his work ethic made him stand out and he was appointed Vice Chair of Operations. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he ended up being tasked to run the committee alone. When Lou was appointed as Chair, he did as much as possible to acclimate Lou to the position and worked multiple shifts, making sure that the transition was a positive one. He could have opted out after the election of a new Board, but elected to stay on and is highly valued by the committee chair.

In view of his hard work, of the Volunteer Committee of The Eulenspiegel Society wish to make special recognition of Ted, the Voce-Chair of the Operations Committee. Way to go, Ted.

Do you go to TES meetings and events? Would you like to see your (scene) name in the TES Weekly? That’s easy! Write reviews of TES Meetings and Events and submit them to TES_Weekly@hotmail.com. They don’t need to be epic sagas; just a few paragraphs would be great. Please write to us at TES_Weekly@hotmail.com if you have any questions. We’d love to add you to our masthead.

Permission is granted to forward or post this to other lists. In fact, we would appreciate it if you helped spread the word about TES.
