I flew the corporate coop in 1991 and have worked for myself, 100% home-based ever since. As the wife of an up and comer, my career had to follow my husbands. With and MBA and a decade of successful business experience, I enjoyed working and never intended to be a stay home mom, but I wasn’t about to give it all up just because my husband came home and dropped a “How’d ya like to move to Cleveland?” on me. So in 1999, when baby number 2 came around, I decided to create my own career path that didn’t require that I live in one place for too long or get on an airplane to be successful. Over the years, I’ve experienced it all…day care, in home child care, in my home child care, teeny bopper child care and no child care…computer crashes, Internet outages, roofers pounding over my head during conference calls, and was forced to become my own IT department, marketing department, accounting department… If you work from home, you know the drill.
