NEW ON-AIR LINE-UP FOR GOOD HOPE FM

A pleasant surprise was in store for Good Hope FM listeners when they tune in on Thursday, 1 October 2009, as the new on-air line-up was set in motion. Good Hope FM’s management team implemented line-up changes to keep the sound of the station fresh, though familiar and also to tie in with the station’s strategy to develop and foster young on-air talent in the mother city.
Station manager Natano Brache is excited about the new line-up, “Having big names like Jeannie D and Ready D join the on air team will give us a competitive edge and make Good Hope FM the lifestyle station that depicts Cape Town. The line up is a true representation of cosmopolitan Cape Town and the “Now and Global” markets who make this a great and vibrant city.”
Television presenter and previous Good Hope FM DJ, Jeannie D, is a familiar voice that will return to the station as she’ll co-present the weekday lunchtime show (12:00 – 15:00) with Ayanda Tini. Joining them on the show will be news reader Vania Cloete-Collisen and sports presenter Brandon Baatjies. Ayanda will keep the show going during the periods when Jeannie D has to travel across the globe with her other work commitments, but Jeannie has promised to phone in every day to keep the listeners up to date on what is hip and happening on her side of the world.
Another favourite to return to the station is JP Naude, who was the breakfast show sports presenter for many years. After a sabbatical he is back on air and will now host the Power Hour, an hour long sport and lifestyle show, every weekday from 18:00 to 19:00. Listeners will be treated to interviews with the hottest sporting celebrities and will also be kept up to date with some local and international celebrity news. JP is also returning as the weekday breakfast sports presenter between 06:00 and 09:00 from Mondays to Fridays.
Guy McDonald will now steer the weekday Afternoon Drive show from 15:00 to 18:00 and he promises to put a new spin on the show by implementing a lot of wit and humour, combined with great music. Carl Wastie and Tracey Lange will still keep the listeners up to date with sports news and news of the day.
Music lovers will be pleased to know that South Africa’s number one Club DJ, Ready D, will join the station from Mondays to Thursdays between 19:00 and 22:00. Ready D’s show will feature popular R&B and Hip Hop and interviews with local musicians and will also focus on issues related to the community.
Tyrone Paulsen will now host a show every Friday from 19:00 to 22:00 and again on a Saturday from 18:00 to 22:00. Tyrone’s show will feature popular club mixes and will set the mood for a playful night out on the town.Good Hope FM, which has launched the career of many well-known radio personalities, continues to discover and promote hot fresh talent with its new line-up. Mixi, a graduate from the University of Stellenbosch, will host a show every Friday evening from 22:00 to 02:00 featuring DJ mixes of various well know club DJ’s from Cape Town.
Listeners will be pleased to know that their favourite DJs like Nigel Pierce, Suga, Ebrahiem Inglis, Eugene Mpatheni and TK will still be making the airwaves rock in their regular slots. Weekends will also be revamped. Paul Playdon will play host to the weekend breakfast show on Saturdays and Sundays from 06:00 to 09:00. He will be followed by Sean O who will host the Good Hope FM Top 30 every Saturday morning between 09:00 and 12:00 and also the 09:00 to 12:00 show on Sundays. Leigh-Anne Williams will be the newsreader and Brandon Baatjies the sports presenter for both shows.
Sundays will still feature Retro music (a mix of old school music) from 06:00 to 18:00 as this is the style of choice for all enjoying the energy of Cape Town. Maddin will host the 12:00 to 15:00 show on Sundays and she will be followed by Stephanie B from 15:00 to 18:00, showcasing the best hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s and beyond. Stephanie B will also host the 15:00 to 18:00 show on Saturdays. Bradley Knight will set the mood for a relaxing Sunday evening during his show on Sundays between 18:00 and 22:00. This show will focus on mainly smooth mid-tempo sounds featuring the industry’s best urban Gospel artists. Parusha Naidoo will ease listeners into a Monday with her show on Sunday evenings from 22:00 to 02:00.
