- This group is a tribute to the well loved TV programme from our childhoods, T-Bag.
T-Bag aired on Children’s ITV in the UK from 1985 to 1993 over the duration of nine series and four Christmas specials (a total of 94 episodes), T-Bag aired in many other countries across the world including Australia. T-Bag was a powerful enchantress (or witch) who gained her magical powers from cups of tea brewed by her faithful (well until the end of a series) T-Caddy, T-Shirt.
T-Bag lived in an item within a curiosity shop (a music box, a teapot, a board game etc) where Thomas and the girl would usually be transported into the world of T-Bag.
T-Bag would have wicked plans and schemes to make her the all powerful High-T but her plans were foiled by a young girl who had to traverse the lands to gather magical items (like silver numbers from the town clock in T-Bag Strikes Again or golden bells in T-Bag Bounces Back). These items usually held the power to destroy T-Bag at the end of the series.
In the first five series Tallulah Bag was played by Elizabeth Estensen (now known for playing Diane Sugden in Emmerdale), the following four series showed Tabatha Bag (Tallulah’s sister) played by the cult actress Georgina Hale. T-Shirt was played by John Hasler throughout the nine series. There were also five different girls who challenged T-Bag during the series. The first three series T-Bag’s nemesis was in the form of Debbie (played by Jennie Stallwood), the following series (Turn On To T-Bag) T-Bag had a new foe in the form of Holly-Anna Jones, a children’s TV presenter (played by Diana Barand). In T. Bag and the Revenge of the T. Set and T. Bag and the Pearls of Wisdom T-Bag fought with Sally Simpkins, played by Kellie Bright (now known for The Upper Hand, Bad Girls and Me Julie in the Ali G film). In T. Bag and the Rings of Olympus T-Bag trifled with Polly (played by Natalie Wood) and in T. Bag and the Sunstones of Montezuma had to tangle with Penny Hunt (played by Evelyn Sweeney). In the last series, Take off with T. Bag, T-Bag had another companion in the guise of T. Shirt’s cousin, Tow-Ling Shirt (played by Bea Julakasiun).
