The Green Movement is a social-environmental movement that brings together activists, organizers, city council members, and academics, thinkers, and scientists who share awareness that the social-environmental agenda must be central to Israel's political discourse. A green party - with roots, authenticity, and a broad perspective - must become an integral part of Israel's political map.

The Green Movement is the sole player on Israel's present political scene that is able to serve as a unifying force between the nation's diverse population segments and the disparate ideological currents that up until now were perceived as contradictory or even hostile to each other. From the left we draw our commitment to justice (both social and environmental), informing our perception of the state's responsibility toward all its citizens' welfare, particularly disadvantaged groups; and our commitment to peace and solidarity.

From the liberal tradition, we draw an uncompromising defense of civil rights and freedom of speech, tolerance, pluralism, and the belief in every individual's right to freedom, dignity, fulfillment, beauty and meaning. From religious tradition, we draw respect for the collective identity (religion, national pride, community, and family), and the recognition of these as deeply held human values in a heterogeneous society.

Only the Green Movement can bring together Jews and Arabs, Orthodox and non-Orthodox Jews, veteran and immigrant Israelis, inhabitants of the center and the periphery, and act for the good of all, uniting differing languages, needs, and sensibilities under the banner of a shared future. This is the power of an authentic Israeli green party. This is the hope for us all.
