June 17 Al-Khaiwani wins the Amnesty International Special Media Award while he is imprisoned in Sana'a Yemen.

June 9 Al-Khaiwani sentenced to six years in prison for an article "liable to demoralize the military". Immediately HR groups and the US State department denounce the sentence.

September 25, al-Khaiwani freed from jail after international pressure.
