In a world where the intellectual elite is by and large comprised of atheists, it is peculiar to find a modern, innovative University campus without an official channel for atheists to express their point of view. Whilst various religious clubs and societies flourish in the University community, there is a lack of unity among atheists.
The purpose of this group is not to attack any of the religious student clubs or societies, but rather to raise awareness about atheism by stimulating rational and intellectual thought processes, free from the delusions and dogma of theistic beliefs. Thus, providing a sobering counter-balance to the many religious student clubs, groups and societies that seem to dominate the public arena around the University campus.
Mission statement:
"We acknowledge and accept that there is no credible scientific or factually reliable evidence for the existence of a deity. We reject superstition and prejudice along with the irrational fears they cause. We embrace evidence-based reasoning and will strive to educate, increase awareness, and improve the public's perception of atheism."
Tenets:
- Community
- Education
- Activism
- Services
