- Meeting 4 was an intimate breakfast at 8.00 am on Thursday 9 July at Hotel CBD, Varsity Lakes. The Chapter executive and Matt Carter attended, and provided an opportunity to plan future meetings. The information exchange on social media and associated tools was impressive.

The activities of SMC Gold Coast were launched successfully on 29 January at Bond University. We had some excellent talks which were kicked off by SMC founder Chris Heuer via Skype when he gave us the background of the formation of the club, the philosophy and concepts that were the driving force and his hopes for the future. Des Walsh then took us through the Internet social media tools that are key to success for modern businesses particularly in SE Qld. The experienced podcaster Glenn Goodman of AussieTechHead fame then gave us the benefit of his podcasting expertise to round off the night. We then retired to Hotel CBD for drinks.
As an experiment the proceedings were live streamed using Mogulus.com and some edited highlights will appear at some stage. Links to slides and other resources for smcgc meeting 1 can be found in the meeting report wiki page at http://is.gd/gjbv.
We will plan to hold the next meeting some time in March.
The inaugural meeting is set for Bond University on Thursday 29 January at 6 pm, and drinks afterwards at the Hotel CBD. Check out the event page http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=40923230919 for more details and maps.
A steering group met in Varsity Lakes on 17 December and decided there was sufficient interest in social media on the Gold Coast to form a chapter of the Social Media Club. This Facebook group was created to encourage membership.
