Dear Members of the Community:
Thank you for your interest in joining our effort to start a children’s museum in Blacksburg that would serve the broader geographic region. Our idea is to create a place for children to learn and explore through hands-on experiences. The museum will include stimulating exhibits, special events, and live demonstrations that explore and instill a sense of discovery about music, science, technology, art, and regional heritage.

We are working to accomplish the following short-term goals:

• Expand our knowledge in the field of children’s museums and exhibit development.
• Establish ourselves as an organization and form a board of directors.
• Establish official non-profit status.
• Gain membership in the National Association of Children’s Museums.
• Develop marketing efforts including a website and direct communication with community members, families, and partners.
• Engage in fundraising efforts including community support and grants.

Our long-term objectives are to:

• Locate a building in the vicinity of the downtown Blacksburg district.
• Partner with Virginia Tech and local community for exhibit development.
• Develop a long-term financial base through memberships, corporate sponsors, and fund-raising events.
