Updated School of the Arts application materials are now available at http://www.samford.edu/arts/admission.html for students applying to major in art, music, or theatre beginning in the fall 2010 semester.


Art Day for prospective art majors:
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Spend a day on campus getting to know the Art Department by taking two Art Day sessions/workshops taught by the professors! (Open both to high school juniors and seniors; seniors are welcome to arrive the evening before to participate in the School of the Arts audition and interview weekend events.)

School of the Arts audition and interview weekends for prospective music and theatre majors:
Friday and Saturday, November 13-14, 2009
Friday and Saturday, February 5-6, 2010
Friday and Saturday, February 12-13, 2010
Audition/interview for acceptance and scholarship consideration as a music or theatre major while also getting to know the faculty, attending a Samford Arts production, and even staying overnight in the residence halls as a guest of a current student!


Auditions and interviews are required for acceptance as a theatre or music major; art portfolio reviews are required for all students interested in art major scholarships. Please contact Arts Recruiter Rachel Lim (arts@samford.edu) for more information.

Art Department professor Dr. Lowell Vann receives the John H. Buchanan Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching:

Graduating seniors nominate faculty members to receive this university-wide teaching award each year. Dr. Vann is the third School of the Arts professor to receive this award in the past five years. Previous School of the Arts recipients include Dr. Don Sanders (2005) and Dr. Paul Richardson (2007).
