Organised every three years in close collaboration with the authorities of the hosting country, the World Water Forum is the largest international event in the field of water.
The forum’s theme refers to divides between regions, between developed and developing countries, developed and traditional water cultures, and between rich and poor. Attention will also be given to Millennium Development Goals for water.Finally, this theme also calls upon the international water community to make concrete proposals so that better management of the resource may contribute to achieving the entirety of the Millennium Development Goals.
We, peasant farmers, pastoralists, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, migrant workers, women and
young people, who gathered at Nyéléni 2007 will promote the just sharing and management of water territories by, among other strategies, presenting a united alternative to the 2009 Istanbul Summit on Water.
