Berkeley, California, based R & B group, formed in 1982 consisting of Berkeley High school students.

Its members: Marcus Thompson (founder), Michael Marshall (lead vocals), Alex Hill and Kevin Moore.

Timex Social Club specialized in both old school rap and the merger of urban R&B with hip-hop rhythms, which was later known as new jack swing. TSC's first release was the mega smash hit 12inch single "Rumors". Rumors went to #1 on the U.S. HOT BLACK singles dance chart for 2 weeks in July of 1986 while the group opened concert dates in the U.S. for the historic RUN-DMC Raising Hell Tour wich also featured: Beast Boys, LL Cool J, Whodini and of course RUN DMC.

The group was signed to Jay Records and later signed with Danya Records. TSC's only album Vicious Rumors was released in 1986.

Vicious Rumors had only one major hit on it, "Rumors", which hit #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, August 30, 1986 with Michael Marshall as the lead singer, and also #13 in the UK charts.

The two following singles "Thinkin' About Ya" and "Mixed-Up World" both reached the R&B top 20. (read less)
