The Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control (FOVBAC) was founded by concerned citizens of Virginia Beach to help the animals and the staff at the city’s municipal animal facility.

Each year thousands of healthy adoptable animals find their way to the shelter. Some animals are picked up as strays, some are removed from their existing environments due to abuse, and some are simply turned in by their owners who no longer want to care for them. Our group is dedicated to helping these animals and educating the public about issues regarding shelter pets.

Mission Statement

Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control is dedicated to ending homeless companion animal overpopulation and euthanasia of healthy adoptable, and treatable animals in Virginia Beach. FOVBAC works together with the Virginia Beach Bureau of Animal Control and local area rescue groups to find homes, provide medical care, promote spay/neuter, increase adoptions and support Virginia Beach Control staff in creating a healthy, caring environment for the animals housed there.

We also encourage Veterinarians in Virginia Beach to sell license.
