Hi, My Name is Aaron Busch. You've probably been directed to this Facebook Group by a Friend, Relative, Co-Worker, or Family Member, so let me explain why I've created this Group, and why I'm asking for your support.
One thing I have perceived in my 24 Years of Existence is the Environment Our Family has been living in, which is Coarsely scaled by my Disability. I'm bound to a Wheelchair and am Unable to Walk. I am able to Crawl (Regularly), but with all the irremovable Stains/Mold attached to the Floor, both on the Surface and Underneath, Crawling can be a bit Dangerous. Why? The Circulation in my Legs is quite Restricted, which means an Infection on the Foot would lead to Amputation from the Kneecap. It came to the point where I had to be Hospitalized for 7 Days while under the Treatment of Blood Thinners.
Because of my this Environment, my Condition will worsen in-time. It's likely my Legs will be Amputated (Eventually)... Or it's likely I might be completely Dependant on my Wheelchair (If I'm Careful). Too much of this House is inaccessible or Hazardous to my Condition. So let's answer your First Question. No, it's impossible to Renovate the House in it's present State. It would have to be completely ripped apart and rebuilt. Mold is Growing in the Basement, Electrical is Failing, Plumbing is Leaking, Framing won't Hold an Earthquake, Interior Framing won't Protect a Fire, it's Poorly Insolated, Windows are Broken... (Upwards of $300+ per Month just on the Hydro Bill.) We're always resetting the Circuit Breaker because the Wiring is incapable of keeping up to today's Technology... We use a Stove instead of the Furnace because the Furnace runs on Oil. (And Oil is Expensive. Who knew it would jump so High 30+ Years ago?) The Stove itself burnt a black pitch into the Wall because it lit on Fire (Years Ago).
We have to be Careful because the House can't be Insured in this Condition.
One of my Friends recently pointed out a Show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I realize it's American-based, but I strongly believe with enough Support from this Facebook Group, and with strong Determination, ABC will heed to my Request. Doing so, ABC will have indubitably made a life-altering impact on our Family, impacting our Neighbourhood and Community.
I realize most of the Families on Extreme Makeover are Humanitarians, I believe these Factors would help represent our Family.
My Dad has been a Carpenter for the past 40 Years. He's built Homes, Storage Facilities, Business Centers, Most of which is recognized by our Community. He's put his Sweat and Blood into building Homes and Facilities so Citizens of our Community have a place to live and work.
Myself? I point out Flaws of Accessibility in our Community for People with
Disabilities. because I know how Difficult it can be to find Wheelchair Access. (Including Local Transit, Sidewalks and Raised Ledges which make it difficult to access Convenience Stores, Malls, Local Attractions, Etc.) I write Letters or make Phone Calls to the Authoritive Representatives and make Follow-up Conversations when these issues remain Unresolved.
Anyways, My Parents do the Cooking, the Cleaning, and the Laundry because of the Access Restrictions. My Dad won't consider moving to another House, Condo, or Apartment because of the Accessibility of the Neighborhood. We're close to Schools, Public Transit, and Shopping.
Dad wants to rebuild this House to be good as New, but it's just a Dream. It's Something he's been Saying since he was in his 40s. (It'd be the Same if I were to say, I want to win the Lottery and go on a Cruise...) Dad actually began building a House on his empty lot next-door, Mom sold her trailer to make it happen... But he's been working on that House all by himself, and once the money dried up, he just went back to his old habits... Working for someone else to keep our Family supported. Meanwhile, Mom now lives in a much smaller Trailer, while I live in this run-down infestation.
My Dad's Health is bordering on Diabetes and he has to take medication regularly. Because of this, and all the circumstances around me, I've been stressing to the point where I'm now taking medication for Anxiety. My Anxiety came to the point where I had to be Hospitalized for 24 Hours because of an irregular heart rhythm. Something which would have been shocked back into place had the Advil not resolved the issue. My major concern is that Dad could pass away, the House would remain unfinished, Mom would be stuck in her dinky little Trailer, while I'd be stuck in this House.
This House in it's current shape isn't good for anyone. The amount of Mold and Dust collecting around here have caused me numerous Fungal Infections.
My whole reason for doing this isn't just for myself, but for my Dad too. He's been sleeping on the couch in the Living Room for the past 24 years because I occupy the only livable room.
The Basement is basically your initial ingredients for Resident Evil and 28 Weeks Later. It's flooded, collecting Raccoons (Who we've named Ricky), Cats, Rats, Bugs, Birds, and Parasites.
The House itself is falling apart. The Raccoons caused the roof in the Kitchen to collapse. The mess on the floor remained for weeks, while the large, broken ceiling remained for years before it was patched up.
The Raccoons also caused the roof in the bathtub to collapse. Fortunately, nobody was taking a shower at that time or it would have impaled them.
Why so many Raccoons? Dad built an unfinished attic, or rather a "Shelter" for the Raccoons. It wasn't intended to be for the Raccoons, Dad just threw it on his big to-do list and neglected to complete it.
Windows have been broken in the Greenhouse out back, including the exterior of the House. (Example: There's a large hole in the wall by the entrance to the basement, covered with only a thin sheet of plywood.
In short, Maintenance of this House is expensive, while the House itself is dangerous and unprotected. It's going to make me homeless after my Parents pass on.
I've set up this Facebook Group to see if I could build up enough support before I send off my Application to Extreme Makeover. Many, including myself want to see this goal come to life. Just by joining this Group, you are making an increasingly generous impact on our Family. We truly need your support if we're going to turn this into reality, so invite your Friends, Relatives, Family, and Co-Workers.
Thanks for your Support! :D
