- In 2003, Mike Davidson formed a vision called Action Wrestling Entertainment. The first show held in November 2003, featured Dan "The Beast" Severn, Buff Bagwell, and some young up and comers who would go on to some remarkable things. They included current WWE Developmental Wrestler Jon Cutler, and Independent stand-out Kenny Omega. The first event was designed to create interest with investors, to form a much larger scale company, with Television Broadcast capabilities.
In 2005, that dream was realized as Mike Davidson, with partner Jeff Dyck brought significant investment capital together, and launched AWE with a Pay Per View taping in March. Featuring Kishi Fatu, Billy Gunn, James Gibson and Hacksaw Duggan, AWE put together a very impressive roster. Larger Than Life would air on Pay Per View that year, and soon after AWE launched a weekly 30 minute TV show called "Overload" which aired 10 episodes on The Fight Network across Canada.
Action Wrestling Entertainment would suspend operations in 2006, and would later become insolvent.
In 2007, Jeff Dyck hired Mike Davidson to come up with a concept to produce large scale live Wrestling Entertainment events to help market the "Global Buying Card" a product of One World United.
Wrestling Fan Xperience was born, with a concept to give the fans greater access to the Wrestling Celebrities, and show a greater appreciation to the loyal fan base of Professional Wrestling.
Star-Studded shows would follow, and the likes of Jerry "The King" Lawler, Tammy "Sunny" Sytch, Al Snow, Brutus Beefcake, and many other Wrestling Celebrities were apart of these mega-events. Along the way, AWE and WFX were instrumental in helping promote The Vanilla Gorillas, one of Canada's best kept secrets to the forefront, and making them a charismatic tag-team phenomenon.
Now, as 2009 gets going, and the Global Recession dominates the headlines everywhere, and the world is ready to seek new sources of affordable entertainment, Mike Davidson is happy to share his new vision. Action Wrestling Experience (AWE). This is the new AWE, and it is preparing for a full-scale launch.
What can you expect to see? Wrestling Celebrities? Without a doubt. The best independent wrestling talent available? Absolutely. Entertaining and creative presentation of Pro Wrestling? Guaranteed.
