Hosted by the nonprofit Reading Odyssey, the Darwin Facebook project began as a campaign to celebrate Darwin's 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of "Origin of Species" - both occurred in 2009.

Now this group is focused on ongoing public education in evolutionary biology and is part of the Reading Odyssey's mission to help more adults engage their intellectual curiosity and reignite lifelong learning.

Volunteers like scientists Quinn O'Neill, Chris Farnet, James Falvo and others have helped to build this group on Facebook including by removing spam and contributing quality links to our database of over 500 articles on evolutionary and molecular biology.

Kendall Crolius produced our amazing 2009 lecture series with scientists like Sean Caroll and E.O. Wilson. You can see links to the video for that here and on our Vimeo page - http://www.vimeo.com/tag:darwin150

While hundreds of thousands of people have joined and done many small and big things to make this group and this public education project successful.
